Cribbage is a card game for two players. It is played with a standard deck of cards ranked from 2-10, jack, queen and king.

There are a total of 30 points in the deck which are divided equally between the two players.

The object of the game is to be the first player to reach 121 points. Points can be attained by counting cards and combinations such as pairs and runs.

A cribbage board is a rectangular board with two end s, two holes at either end to hold the pegs, and five rows of fifteen holes each.

The player to the left of the dealer begins by placing one peg in each of the 15 holes outside the s and one peg in each of the two holes at either end. Players then alternately remove and score pegs according to agreed rules.

The following rule table shows how to score points:

  • 1 point for any card under 1 point (a 2 is worth 2 points)
  • 6 points for any pair (two cards that add up to 10)
  • 6 points for any triplet (three cards that add up to 10)
  • 10 points for any run (three cards that add up to 15)
  • 1 point per card over 30.

After each hand, the pegs are moved back to the beginning hole of each row and a new hand begins with the players nominating their score from their hand. This continues until one player reaches 121 points at which time they win.

If a player fails to count a card, peg or combination correctly they will be given a chance to correct their mistake. If not, the opponent wins immediately and receiving no points for that hand.

So this is how to play Cribbage.
