Making candles is a rewarding and creative hobby that can be enjoyed for many hours. Do you know that making the candles is easier than you might think. All you need are some wax, wicks, dye, glass jars, and containers.

First you have to light the candle wick with a match or lighter to set it on fire so wax will drip down. You should dip it in the melted wax about 1/2 inch at a time so you don’t burn the string too quickly.

When dipping it back into the hot wax, make sure that the end of your string stays out of the way of your hand by holding onto it tightly with your other hand.

Next, cut two pieces of wick about 1 1/2″ long and tie them together with a piece of string.

Tie the other end to something so your tied wick will be suspended in air and not touch anything. Now, lay waxed wicks on paper plates until they harden completely.

After that you can cut them up into smaller pieces for melting later or you could save some for future projects by just taping them with scotch tape to the bottom of the jar so it has wick, this is called overdipping.

After you have finished your candles, let them sit for about one day then they are ready to burn. Never leave a candle burning for more than 4 hours at a time because it could cause the candle wax to over flow and start a fire.

Candles can be made in any scent or color you want. You can even make your own candle holders to make it more special.

They make great gifts for Birthdays, Mother’s Day, Valentine’s Day, etc., because they’re inexpensive and everyone loves them! So go ahead and get started today!

So this is how to make candles.
