To address an envelope, simply put the recipient’s name and address in the top left hand corner.

Now, put a comma and then “Street Address,” then a comma and then “City.” Then you need to add in the Zip Code. After that, add a comma and then insert the state abbreviation. Finally, add in your return address in the bottom right hand corner.

P.O. Boxes: You need to write “P.O. Box” and then the number and street direction (North, South, East, West). Then you need to add in City, State and Zip Code.

Odd numbers: If your mailbox is on an odd numbered side of the street or building (i.e., the address is 1235 Main St, but your number is 3) you need to put “odd” after your street number (i.e., “13”).

If your mailbox is on an even numbered side of the street or building (i.e., the address is 1235 Main St, but your number is 10), you do not need to put anything after your number.

City & State: You need to write the city name in all caps and then the state abbreviation, except for addresses in Hawaii. For Hawaii, use H instead of HI (i.e., Honolulu HI). No commas are necessary between the city name and state abbreviation.

So this is how to address an Envelope.
